Welcome
to the new website of Brisbane based driver Darran
Lester. Darran started his career at Brisbane
International Speedway in the "Sigma" racing section.
The more Darran raced the more he felt the "need for
speed", as he then made the step up to East Coast A
Grade. This is where he raced a VK commodore powered by
a Holden V8. He raced that car for a season he then sold
that and bought a Holden VL Commodore.
After numerous
heat, and feature race wins Darran then bought a VS
commodore which straight away was on the pace and proved
to be a quick front running car. But Darran couldn't
hide his love for ford's any longer as he sold his VS commodore and took it upon himself to build a new
speedway car. Lester Motorsport was to start a new
adventure stripping a BA Ford Falcon of all it's
contents, and fitting it out to run in the East Coast A
Grade class.
The
car was ready to hit the track near the end of the
2005/2006 Speedway season. The car was fitted with
a 6 cylinder engine while he awaits a V8 302 Windsor
motor to be built by Linmac Automotive Race
Engines.
Darran Lester nominated
the new car in the East Coast A Grade Australian
Title held at Kingaroy on the 29th April 2006.
Being the first time on the track for the new car
Darran was optimistic of how
it would go. After coming 2nd in both Heats he
qualified from pole position. Lester surprised
himself
and others as he ran
away with the title. He was ecstatic with the win,
"I honestly didn't expect to win tonight, I just
wanted to try and finish each race and get the car
set up" Lester said.
This
coming season 2008/2009 will see Lester compete in
the ultra competitive class of Modified Production.
Darran has spent a lot of time and effort in
building a new BA Falcon and will be contesting
selected races and blue-ribbon events throughout
Queensland.
